Symptoms
While attempting to transfer large amounts of data from a 99x0 to a
Fiber Tape Library during a backup, a parity error was detected and
it forced the link offline. Further testing showed transfering large
files from the 99x0 to a local filesystem on the host also produced
the errors. The errors appear as follows:
Jan 18 13:19:23 mactivebk jnic: [ID 847178 kern.notice] jnic1: Memory port parity error detected
Jan 18 13:19:23 mactivebk jnic: [ID 229844 kern.notice] jnic1: Link Down

Resolution
An email to JNI's support alias gave the following information:
"The memory port parity error can be fixed by entering this parameter into
your jnic.conf file:
FcEnableContextSwitch = 1;
You will have to reboot the system in order for the modifications to take
effect. If this does not prevent the error messages, then it is likely a
defective HBA."
After making the change the errors no longer occured, however, while
performing large file transfers the system then panicked.
With Kernel's assistance, the modifications were made to /etc/system.
The stack size was changed from 0x4000 to 0x6000.
set lwp_default_stksize=0x6000
set rpcmod:svc_default_stksize=0x6000
Also, the FcEnableContextSwich parameter was added into /kernel/drv/jnic.conf
for each JNI Adapter:
jnic0-FcEnableContextSwitch=1;
jnic1-FcEnableContextSwitch=1;

Internal Comments
Case 63364487
Sun Fire 4800 connected to a SAN (not sure about which switch). 9960 connected
to switch along with an STK L40 via an STK 3250 SCSI-Fiber Bridge
Netbackup 4.5 patched, recently added the /kernel/drv/st driver patch which may
have aided in the solution.
