Impact

The in-band interface of the SE3x10 is a single-threaded interface that uses the SCSI send/receive diagnostic method for communication.

This requires a receive diagnostic command to complete the operation initiated by a send diagnostic command. While the requested operation is in process any subsequent send diagnostic commands received by the controller will be rejected with an "overlapped command" error.

When multiple sccli commands are received, a constant overlapped error condition may occur which may result in loss of I/O and application failure.

This issue occurs in sccli version 2.1.1 and firmware 4.1.3 and below:

Workaround

Prior to sccli version 2.3 - build 12, limit sccli command sources to two or fewer hosts.


Resolution

Final resolution is to upgrade the sccli software to version 2.3 - build 12 or later.  This software can be obtained via the following URL:
