Resolution

Network Storage has released a maintenance release for the StorEdge 6920.

This upgrade provides the following benefits to the customer:

  • Support for 4 Gig Host Adaptors (see CR 6416107)
  • Support for Solaris 10 ZFS (see CR 6456312)
  • Support for Solaris 10 Head of Queue tagging (see CR 6429817)
  • Better handling of single drive failures on the back-end 6020's (see CR 6366175 and 6426907)
  • Better remote replication performance (see CR 6379116 and 6388362)
  • Better scalability for Sun Clusters (see CR 6353581 and 6384364)
  • Better pcrash/core capability (see CR 2137114, 6299564, 6351872,and 6372416)
  • More robust rolling upgrade capability, especially for larger & remotereplication configurations (see CR 6338225, 6350471, 6407686, 6419607, 6419682, 6427705, 6431030, and 6431120)
  • More robust error handling of local mirror splits/rejoins (see CR 6359244, and 6437905)
  • Additional internal debug/diagnostic information (see CR 6455641, 6453242, and 6441624)

Customers should contact their local Sun service center to open a Radiance case and schedule an update. The process is the same as scheduling an install.

Note: The patch CD will be available for this release on 10/23/06. This patch release can also be obtained from the following internal website:  http://dlrequest.sfbay:88/

The migration process can be completed without disrupting system operation. The time required to complete the upgrade is dependent on the size of the configuration and the workload from the customer's applications. If physical disk drive updates are required, they will take approximately 1.5 minutes per drive. Each 2X2 array unit will take approximately 50 minutes. Each 2X4 array unit will take approximately 70 minutes. A 2up DSP configuration will take 90 minutes. A 4up DSP will take approximately 130 minutes. The service processor upgrade takes approximately 25 minutes.

To help Sun track successful migrations:

Please inform the SCCC-Storage of a successful migration by providing the following information associated with the upgraded storage array (e-mail to [email protected]):

  • Customer Name
  • SSE performing Upgrade
  • Serial number
  • Radiance Case
