Symptoms

Customers running SMS 1.3 are unable to flashupdate new
system boards that have 5.19.X firmware preinstalled.

The version of flashupdate that comes with SMS 1.3 can only handle
images that are less the 1M in size. See Bug:4818465

If you are running SMS 1.3 then you should be using lpost 5.14.X.

New boards or replacement boards from the RSLs will be
unusable if they have latest firmware (5.19.X) installed.

Workaround

The workaround and solution is upgrade to SMS 1.4.1 or SMS 1.5.

However if an SMS upgrade is unfeasible, a special flashupdate
binary is available from PTS (see internal section for details).

As a work around use the flashupdate located at

http://pts-platform/twiki/bin/view/Products/StarcatFlashupdate.
It ignores the read errors and will flash successfully if you answer
yes to the question.

Here is an example:
