Impact

This FIN is sent to provide field notification of a new requirement to collect autodump information onto 256MB USB Memory Stick supplied with spare replacement components when replacing SE9990 PCBs.

Symptoms

Root Cause

Workaround

Resolution

Refer to RAID500 Maintenance Manual rev 4 and above in Replace Section, PRE-PROCEDURE-Z found on page REP02-990 AND SVP02-540 for dump retrieval procedures. USB memory devices are now being included with replacement parts received from ** HDS logistics inventories. **

  • SUN has not, at the time of this writing, included USB memory devices within SUN owned inventory.
  • If no USB memory device is included with spare received, please follow normal replacement and return.
  • Process until further notice.

Dumps may take 15-60 minutes to perform. Preferred AutoDump type is ?Normal?=>(Dump type: Normal (15~60 minutes); Medium: Removable Disk), this procedure will store the ?hdcp.tgz? file onto the USB memory stick for return with the defective component.
