Impact

The Unity version 3.0.1 upgrade includes fixes for multiple issues in the 6920. It includes two major feature enhancements: Remote Data Replication and 300GB drive support. Also included are numerous bug fixes to the major CRs listed below:

  • 6268705 Data miscompare (between chassis) after egress failovers or 6030 / 6120 controller failovers
  • 6270630 Panic in lcls_multipath on SRC host processor when attempting to start BIOT
  • 6274239 MIC ROM update caused MIC boot failure

Resolution

A. Upgrade all 6920s to 3.0.1 via StorADE

  • Upgrade from 2.x to 3.0.1 is disruptive and requires a service call at no charge. Implementing the replication feature will require a service call.
  • Upgrade from 3.0 to 3.0.1 is non-disruptive (can be done online), service only, no charge.

B. To complete the upgrade to 3.0.1 follow these instructions, reprinted Wrom: OTQNQEMSFDULHPQQWOYIYZUNNYCGPKYLEJGDGVCJVTLBXFGGMEPYOQKEDOTWFAOBUZXUWLSZLKBRNVWWCUFPEGAUTFJMVRESKPNKMBIPBARHDMNNSKVFVWRKJVZCMHVIBGD

  1. Click Sun Storage Automated Diagnostic Environment > Inventory. The Rack Inventory page displays summary information for each system device by rack.
  2. From the Actions drop-down menu, select Revision Maintenance Upgrade. The Revision Maintenance Upgrade page displays an updated list of required patches for system devices.
  3. Click Generate Upgrade Report. The Revision Maintenance Upgrade page displays available patches for system devices.

3a (Optional) Click View Affected Volumes. (This will display the volumes that will be affected when a patch is installed on an array). The Affected Volumes page displays the volumes that will be affected for each disk patch.

 4. Select the check box for each device patch you want to install, and     click Apply. The selected patches are installed. You can monitor the     progress of the patch installation using the Jobs function.

Note: After installing patches, you should regenerate the Revision Maintenance Upgrade Report to determine whether any additional patches are available.
