Impact

During Sun in-house testing of Hi-Track version 8D, on a SE9990/USP subsystem, it has been discovered that the Hi-Track "Front" application will terminate unexpectedly during the "dat" (data) file creation for a daily phone home call.

The failure symptoms are as follows:
The Hi-Track front termination occurs consistently when Hi-Track is creating or accessing the license info file.
The Hi-Track.log file is updated and read from the bottom to top.

The symptoms detailed above can be seen via a review of the Hi-Track front screen during the daily call preparation. Or, after the termination event, via a review of the Hi-Track.log file which can be found on the SVP in the C:\HDS\ folder.

HDS have advised that there is a bug in Hi-Track version 8D that causes an unexpected termination, if the get License request returns with a completion code of 8.

Microcode version 50-02-43-00/00 or later resolves the issue that causes the return code of 8.

Hi-Track version 8E resolves the unexpected termination of the Hi-Track front application during the dat (data) file creation process.

This issue is only known to impact the SE9990/USP array type, which have MC versions lower than 50-02-43-00/00 installed. No other SE99x0 array type is known to be impacted by this mode of Hi-Track (version 8D specific) failure.
