New standard configurations with an integrated controller installed into the disk backplane are available, thereby making the previously occupied short PCI-X slot available. All systems that initially shipped with the PCI-X based disk controller can be upgraded in the field by ordering the FRU part F501-7244 - PCIe SAS-SATA Controller Board.
The use of this controller will require the redefinition of the boot path as it is PCIe based, not PCI-X. It is encouraged that Services be contacted for the installation.
