Solid State Drives
  • 32 GB SATA solid state drive.
Sun Blade 6000 Disk Module Requires a RAID Expansion Module (REM) in the Sun Blade X6270. Also requires a Network Express Module (NEM) in the Sun Blade Modular System (6048 or 6000). The NEM has to have Sun Blade 6000 Disk Module support.
Management Environment
Sun Blade Server Module Service Processor (SP)
  • The SP is not a separate card. It is embedded on the motherboard.
  • The SP is installed with Integrated Lights-Out Manager (ILOM).
  • The SP provides one 10/100 Management Ethernet Port to Midplane and the Chassis Monitoring Module (CMM).
  • ILOM on the SP card can be accessed via the Dongle cable assembly.
    • Both the three-cable (X4622A) and four-cable (X4621A) dongle cable options can be used to connect to ILOM using the Universal Connector Port (UCP) on the front of the Sun Blade X6270.
    • Use the DB-9 serial connector with the DB9F to RJ45F adapter on the 4-cable dongle to connect to ILOM via the UCP.
    • Use the RJ-45 serial connector on the 3-cable dongle to connect to ILOM via the UCP.
  • The SP card and LOM provide the following:
    • Remote management with full Keyboard, Mouse, Video, Storage (KVMS) redirection.
    • Remove media capability (floppy, DVD, CD etc.).
    • DMTF style CLI.
    • Browser-based UI for control of the system through a graphical interface.
    • IPMI 2.0 compliance for management and control.
    • SNMP V1, V2c, V3 for system monitoring.
    • Monitor and report system and component status on all FRUs.
Standard Integrated Interfaces
Universal Connector Port (UCP) The Dongle Cable assembly connects to the UCP and provides the following:
  • Connection to ILOM SP.
  • 2 USB 2.0 ports.
  • VGA video connection to an on-board AST2100 graphics chip.
Network Management Two 10/100Base-T Ethernet connection via midplane to the CMM. Only one connection (NET 0) is used.
Ethernet Two 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet ports routed through midplane to 2 NEM slots.
PCI Interfaces with the Sun Blade Modular System (chassis)
  • I/O is offered in two form factors:
    • PCI Express ExpressModules (EM)
      and
    • PCI Express Network Express Modules (NEM).
  • Each Sun Blade X6270 has four, PCI Express Gen 2 links allocated to:
    • Two EMs (X8)
      and
    • Two NEMs (X4).
  • Each NEM has one link assigned to each server module. All server modules share the NEM. For example, Blade 0 has access to NEM 0/slot 0, and NEM 1/slot 0. Blade 1 to NEM 0/slot 1 and NEM 1/slot 1, etc.
  • EM slots are not shared between server modules. Each EM slot is specific to one server module.
